The Chevrolet Captiva is set to undergo a slight facelift for this year’s model range, with a few styling changes, a longer list of standard features and a dramatic change to the line-up.
Line-up sans three-litre
The range now consists of a 2.4 LT FWD manual, an automatic of the same spec and the 2.2 LTZ AWD which now tops the range. The 2.4 AWD model has been dropped, and the three-litre engine is no longer available in any guise, leaving only one AWD model in the line-up. Prospective buyers who like the stability of all-wheel drive now must buy the diesel, top specification model.
The engines that are still available in the Captiva range remain the same as before. The 2.4 litre Ecotec motor produces 123 kW and 230 Nm of torque; and the common rail direct injection 2.2 litre diesel engine produces 135 kW with 400 Nm of torque.
Claimed combined cycle fuel economy is 8, 8 l/100km for the FWD, 2.4 litre model; and a 8, 0 l/100km for the 2.2 litre diesel all-wheel drive model.
The Captiva 2.4 LT FWD is available with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic ‘box. The Captiva 2.2 LTZ has a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with on-demand four wheel drive.
Styling and Features
Styling tweaks across the Captiva range include a fresh treatment for the front bumper, fog lamp surrounds and grille. At the rear the update includes a revised rear bumper and exhaust outlets. Tail-lamps have been changed slightly, said to be more reliable and longer life LED units.
All three Captiva variants now feature a “Touch-Pad” lift gate mechanism and passenger seat belt warning.
The 2.2 LTZ now has keyless entry and push button start-up, illuminated door-sill covers, a tyre pressure warning indicator and revised final drive ratio to provide “improved performance from rest”.
Dual-zone climate control air-conditioning (standard on the 2.2 LTZ AWD model) as a factory fitted option on the 2.4 LT.
Options available on the Captiva 2.4 LT models include 18 inch alloy wheels (new design), an electronic sun-roof, and leather seats.
A “Luxury Package’ can be specified on these two models that adds dual-zone climate control air-conditioning and an on-board computer.
