The Suzuki Jimny absolutely dominated the Tokyo Auto Salon last year and it seems as if it’s going to do it again this year.
Japan’s biggest automotive show only starts next week, yet a few announcements have been made before it even starts.
Suzuki will launch its own once-off Jimny called the Marine Style, but we’re betting there will be quite a few Jimny based kits launched at the show.
The first of these kits to break cover are brought to you by a company called DAMD. It will be launching two design kits for the Jimny.
The first is the Dronco, meant to mimic the design of the original Ford Bronco.
In addition to some minor design changes to make it look more Bronco-ish, the Dronco also features the same light blue body colour and cream roof as the original Bronco. There are interior upgrades as well, but those will only be unveiled at the Salon.
The second Jimny is a bit more to our liking. It’s called “The Roots” and it’s meant to be an homage to the original LJ10 from 1970. The similarities between the grille of the original LJ and this body kit are quite obvious, as is the yellow body colour and steel wheels.
The interior will also feature retro materials, but, once again, we’ll have to wait for the full details.
Both body kits are still in development and will be made available to the public later this year.
