ECD Automotive Design is renowned for its Land Rover Defender recreations, with the US-based tuner handing the previous generation of the British marque’s go-anywhere SUV a variety of aesthetic, tech and, most significantly, off-road upgrades. The custom-built ECD Toyota FJ40 is equipped with a selection of updates, outside and in … and mechanical. Starting with the latter, the ECD Auto Design-restored FJ boasts a 6.2-litre V8, which has been sourced from Chevrolet, and a six-speed automatic cog swapper. The soundtrack is provided by a stainless steel exhaust system.
To improve on the FJ’s off-road capability, ECD Auto Design has fitted the standard model with an upgraded suspension setup, heavy-duty axles, and anti-sway bars. The original brakes have been replaced with disc units.
On the tech front, the ECD Toyota FJ40 can be had with a choice of two audio systems — Sony or Alpine. Bluetooth connectivity is also included. A reverse-view camera is also present. The firm has also fitted the FJ with an LED lighting package.
