It features some design changes, including a more aggressive grille with the Fiat badge up front, LED headlamps and a new bumper.

It doesn’t appear to be aimed at hardcore off-roading, but the figures reveal that it might be a handy tool, at least as far as gravel road driving is concerned. It has an approach angle of 24 degrees and a ground clearance of 208mm.

It seems Fiat is also attempting to take on the leisure market with the double cab version. The interior on this particular model has a leather steering wheel and a modern infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Two engines will be available. The base 1.4-litre naturally-aspirated petrol delivers 65kW and 123Nm of torque, while a turbocharged 1.3-litre delivers 81kW and 139Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual that sends the power to the front wheels only.

It’s highly unlikely we’ll ever see the Strada in South Africa. It’s specifically built for South America and as such is only built-in left-hand drive.
