Hymer VisionVenture showcases the camper of the future

By: CAR magazine

The annual Caravan Salon currently taking place in Dusseldorf, which means we usually get to see all kinds of new campers, trailers and concepts.

One of the best models to emerge from this show comes courtesy of Hymer, which is relatively unknown here, but quite well-known in Germany. It usually builds practical camper vans, but this year it showcased what it thinks camper vans will look like in the future.

Its concept is called the Hymer VisionVenture and it’s based on the latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

It’s a luxury camper for two people, so it’s not the most practical, but look closer and you’ll see a number of impressive changes that you usually don’t see on builds based on production vehicles.

The Sprinter’s body, windscreen and A-pillars, for example, were completely redesigned to accommodate a living area for two people.

The VisionVenture a rear tailgate deck, inflatable pop-top, staircase and wet/dry bathroom. We’ve seen these things before, but the way they integrate into this specific model is astounding.

In addition to being a trend-setter on the design side, Hymer also aims to be more environmentally friendly by using smarter materials.

More than 20 new or improved materials were used to build it and they serve a variety of functions. One material helps reduce the surface temperature by up to 3.8 degrees, which will definitely matter if you happen to be camping somewhere hot.

The VisionVenture was built with customers’ feedback in mind, but unfortunately it won’t be put into production just yet.

According to Hymer, some features on this model will eventually find their way into their current range, but for now the VisionVenture remains a concept.
