Icon Defender is a mental masterpiece

Icon, builder of crazy retro vehicles such as the Icon Bronco, has now gotten its hands on the Land Rover Defender.

The company has taken a 1995 Defender 90 and restored/modified it to a spectacular degree. True, it doesn’t look particularly eye-catching at first glance, but its the engine lurking under the bonnet that is its stand-out feature.

This 90 is powered by a 6,2-litre V8 from General Motors thats mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox.  It also has all sorts of custom components such as aluminium pistons, new connecting rods, a custom exhaust, a new intake, bespoke cooling and an Atlas II transfer case.

The Defender rides on BF Goodrich A/T 285/70/R17 tyres and 17-inch rims, and a braking kit with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers. The vehicle also has new LED lights, a new steering wheel, new dash and removable rubber plugs for draining.

You can watch a video of the Icon 90 below.
