Priced at R399 900, the latest addition to JAC Motors South Africa’s bakkie range — the 2.0L 4×2 CTi — is equipped with, as it name would suggest, a 2.0-litre engine. The four-cylinder, common-rail turbodiesel unit churns out 104 kW and 320 Nm of torque, the latter of which is available from a lowly 1 600 r/min to 2 600 r/min. The oil-burner is coupled with a six-speed manual cog swapper.
According to the Chinese manufacturer, the T8 2.0L 4×2 CTi sips, on average, 7.8 L/100 km. As a result, matching the claimed fuel consumption figure, amounts to an approximate driving range of 1 000 km when the bakkie’s 76-litre fuel tank is filled to the brim.
Although specified in base trim, the latest T8 derivative is equipped with a range of standard styling elements and features. To enhance this model’s “adventurous” look, the former includes a chrome-finished honeycomb front grille, “customised” sports bar, rear-step bumper, side steps, and 18-inch, two-tone alloy wheels, wrapped in 265/60-profile rubber. addition, CTi spec features Xenon headlamps, which incorporates LED daytime-running lights, and fog lamps as standard.
