Kia recently unveiled its Stonic SUV, which will sit below the Sportage and Sorento in the range, at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The Korean automaker’s first B-segment SUV is now available in the UK.
This highly ‘customisable car’ comes with a bevy of options, which include a two-tone paint finish from the 20 available combinations. The crossover makes use of a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 72kW. The front-wheel-drive Stonic comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, electrically adjustable heated side mirrors, rear parking sensors, cornering lights, and LED daytime running lights.
Inside there is a 3.5-inch supervision cluster, Bluetooth with music streaming, all-round electric windows, remote locking, multi-function steering wheel, six-speaker sound system, and 60:40 split rear seats. It also gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and TomTom, keyless entry, push-button start, automatic air conditioning, rear privacy glass and other features.
The Stonic is also available with a 1.0-liter T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine that produces 89kW, or with a 1.6-liter CRDi turbodiesel that comes straight from the Cee’d and delivers 80kW.
Prices for the former start at £16,995 (about R300 000), while the latter option costs at least £17,795 (about R314 000).
