2013 Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition
Jeep have produced some exciting models over the year, but the 2013 Rubicon 10th Anniversary edition, unveiled last night at the LA Auto Show, has to be top of the list. In fact, Jeep says that this celebration of the original 2003 Rubicon is their most capable production model to date.
Besides the awesomely rugged looks, changes to the standard Rubicon include a steel front bumper – just add winch – with removable end caps to allow a set of 265/70R17 BF Goodrich KM2 off-road tyres, 17” Rubicon aluminium wheels in satin black with the Wrangler logo on the lip, half an inch of ground clearance increase, electronically locking front and rear Dana 44 axles with locking differentials, and aesthetic additions like the dual-intake Power Dome hood, Mopar rock rails, black Mopar fuel filler door and tail lamp guards, red tow hooks, a Premium Sunrider softtop or three-piece hardtop, and either Billet Silver, White or the exclusive Anvil paint. You can also go for the exclusive “Anniversary Red” leather interior.
Under the hood it has the same 3,6 litre V6 Pentastar engine added to the South African line-up last year, producing 212kW and 352Nm of torque. The Rock-Trac transfer case has a low range ratio of 4:1, and Tru-Lok differentials on the axles. Transmission is a six-speed manual box and the vehicle’s crawl ratio is 73.1:1!
“The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition is a tribute to 10 years of Wrangler Rubicon history, and to the Jeep brand’s most passionate enthusiasts,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO, – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “This Wrangler Rubicon is for them. It is a unique vehicle that we expect will long be sought after, a Wrangler that offers an unprecedented level of capability once only attainable by long hours of custom aftermarket preparation crafted in the garages of the most avid Jeep enthusiasts in the world.”
The US is set to see the limited edition off-roader on their showroom floors by mid-2013.
