The LDV D90 is en route to South Africa, with the local arm of the Chinese-owned company already having brought in two units for final homologation … and to provide South Africans the opportunity to take a closer look at the second model to join the local LDV portfolio.

Although SA pricing has yet to be announced by the automaker, the firm has, however, revealed what we can expect from the D90 lineup — the model range and specifications, and when it will launch in SA.

Penned in to touch down in SA in the fourth quarter of 2024, the D90 range will comprise two derivatives, the Elite and the Flagship. Both models are generously equipped as standard, with each trim grade featuring 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, wireless smartphone charging, electronic climate control for the front and rear occupants, and leather trim for all seven seats. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and six airbags are included.

Whereas the Elite sits on a set of 18-inch alloys, the top-tier, Flagship derivative upgrades to 20-inch items. The Flagship also features a 12-speaker JBL sound system, heated and massaging front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

However, a notable addition to the Flagship model is the inclusion of front and rear diff locks (on top of the central diff lock found on the Elite). However, both trim levels feature four-wheel drive, with each model’s eight-speed, ZF-sourced self-shifter incorporating a low-range transfer case.

The seven-seater 4x4s are equipped with LDV’s 2.0-litre, twin-turbocharged diesel engine, the same unit powering its bakkie stablemate, the T60 Max. As a reminder, the powertrain produces 160 kW and 500 N.m of torque.
