The Levante, Maserati’s first foray into the SUV realm, won’t be based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform as previously reported.
Maserati CEO, Harald Wester, dismissed these rumours on a recent interview on CNN.
The Levante will likely be based on one of Maserati’s sedan platforms. This means customers will be able to choose from a wide range of petrol and diesel powertrains with outputs ranging from 202kW to 390kW.
It’s currently not clear when Maserati is planning to introduce or reveal the Levante, but we expect to see the first images or spy photographs before the end of the year.
