The ‘Shogun’ treatment is not at all new to Mitsubishi vehicles, with the Japanese automaker having handed it to previous iteration of its Triton-based SUV — the Pajero Sport — and the Pajero. Now, with the official date of the local introduction of the new-generation Triton yet to be confirmed, the South African arm of the company has given the current version — in 4×4 automatic guise — this special-edition package. Here’s what’s included with the Triton Shogun and how much it will cost.

How much does the Mitsubishi Triton Shogun cost?
This special-edition Triton is priced at R809 990, making it the most expensive Triton you can currently buy in SA. It’s by a very small margin, though. This variant will set you back R1 000 more than the Xtreme derivative. The pricing includes a three-year/100 000 km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan.
So, just what do you get for your money? Well, the most notable additions to the Shogun package come in the shape of exterior elements that, for this model, has been finished in black (these include the head- and taillamp covers, front-bumper garnish and roof tails). In addition, this Triton gains a Shogun-specific sports bar.

Inside, the most significant changes are the addition of red contrast stitching for the leather seats and hide-wrapped steering wheel. A noteworthy upgrade is the fitment of a Sony sound system.
The Triton Shogun employs Mitsubishi’s familiar 2.4DI-D engine, a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel endowed with 133 kW and 430 N.m of torque. The oil-burner is coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
