
December 2019 proved to be a tough month for local car sales. The final top ten sales were as follows:

Suzuki’s strong performance bumped BMW off the top ten list.
The Ford EcoSport did really well, claiming back the top spot in the small SUV segment with a sales total of 837 units. It’s nearest competitor was the VW T Cross with 685. Hyundai’s all new Venue sold a total of 307 units, but the big surprise was the all-new Kia Seltos, which was only made available near the end of November. In December Kia sold a total of 510 units.
In the mid-size SUV segment the VW Tiguan came out tops with 630 units sold, followed by the Toyota RAV4 (496 units) and the Hyundai Tucson (376 units).
Toyota also dominated the bakkie segment, as you can see in figures below.
