The highly anticipated Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has officially hit the South African market. Here are the pricing and spec levels for the latest blend of Land Cruiser legacy.
Over 70 years since the launch of the original Toyota BJ, the new Land Cruiser Prado honours its roots by emphasising reliability and capability in the toughest conditions.

The Land Cruiser Prado boasts a 150kW 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine paired with a new eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. This combination enables the vehicle to tow loads up to 3500kg. The Prado also comes in five or seven-seat configurations, with an interior design aiming to reflect the robust nature of a true off-roader.
The Prado range includes three variants, each bringing the rugged capability expected from the Land Cruiser name along with significant improvements in driveability, technology, and design. The base TX variant features a fully leather-upholstered cabin, heated seats for both driver and passenger, a heated steering wheel, a heads-up display, and a wireless charging station.
The VX-R variant adds further enhancements such as a digital rear-view mirror and a larger infotainment screen. At the top of the range, the First Edition stands out with its unique round headlamps and is available only in limited numbers and for a limited time.
In addition to the vehicle’s robust capabilities, Toyota offers a MyToyota profile for all owners. This platform allows quick and convenient access to information and services related to their vehicles. New Toyota vehicles also come equipped with a device that provides in-car WiFi (with a complimentary 25GB) and additional Connect services.
