Opel has introduced its new B-segment SUV, the Crossland X to South Africa, that sits below the Mokka X in the German automakers range of local vehicles.
The Crossland X is offered in four models, with three specification levels and it is available with both manual and automatic transmissions.
The crossover is powered by the all-aluminium 1.2-litre three-pot petrol engine with a choice of either naturally-aspirated or turbocharged. The former has a power output of 60kW and 118Nm, while the turbopetrol version is fitted to all but the entry-level model and delivers 81kW and 205Nm.Overall Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are 5.2 l/100 km and 116 grams/km, and 4.8 l/100 km and 109 grams/km for non-turbo and turbo versions respectively.
All models come with five-speed manual transmission, except for the range’s flagship, the 1.2T Cosmo Automatic, which comes with a six-speed auto with manual selection via the sequential lever gate.
The entry-level Crossland X gets cruise control with speed limiter, LED daytime running lights, hill start assist, six airbags (front, side, rear and head), auto-on headlights and traffic sign recognition as standard features. The Enjoy and Cosmo get the following additional features: rain-sensing wipers, rear view camera, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, park assist (front and rear) and front fog lamps.
Optional features for the Crossland X Cosmo models includes a safety pack with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian function, forward collision and blind spot alerts and a driver drowsiness alert . A heads-up display, advanced park assist and adaptive forward lighting headlamps are also on offer.
All models except the Cosmo come with a 7-inch colour touch-screen with the R 4.0 IntelliLink system that can be acessed via Apple CarPlay. The Cosmo derivatives come with an eight-inch colour touchscreen and the Navi 5.0 IntelliLink system.
The Cosmo derivatives also have the option of a ‘floating roof’ available in contrasting colours.
