The Omoda C5 Style has touched down on South African shores, with the new entry-level derivative in the local C5 portfolio featuring a “lengthy” list of standard specification, the Chinese automaker’s 1.5-litre turbopetrol, and a 10-year/1 million km engine warranty.

Priced at R359 900, the C5 Style is R88 000 less expensive than the model which formerly served as the opening gambit to the C5 line-up. In addition, it costs nearly R120 000 less than the variant currently priced closest to it — the C5 Lux. However, despite being the base-spec derivative, the manufacturer says the C5 Style’s list of standard features is extensive.

As standard, the C5 Style is equipped with a 10.25-inch touch-enabled infotainment display, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, a digital instrument binnacle of the same size, and a six-speaker sound system. A reverse-view camera setup is also present, as are automatic automatic climate control, and cruise control. In addition, the C5 Style features automatic headlamps. This model is fitted with a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.

As mentioned, the C5 Style employs the company’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbopetrol engine, the same unit found under the bonnets of its 230T-badged stablemates. (As a reminder, the C5 GT is powered by a 145 kW/290 N.m 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol powertrain.) But back to the C5 Style.

The 1.5-litre petrol produces 115 kW and 230 N.m of torque, the latter of which is available from 1 750 to 4 000 r/min. A CVT sends power to the front wheels. Omoda claims an average fuel consumption figure of 6.9 L/100 km.
