New to South Africa, the Suzuki Ignis is a small crossover that sits below the Vitara in the brand’s line-up.
At this point, the compact five-door Ignis will come with just one powertrain option, a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 61kW and 113 Nm. Not much power it seems, however the Ignis only weighs 850kg. There is a choice of manual or automatic transmission, except on the entry level GL model, which only has manual gearing.
Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, ESC (electronic stability control) and BAS (Brake Assist System). The little Suzuki measures 3 700 mm long, with a wheelbase of 2 435 mm and ground clearance of 180 mm.
Suzuki Auto SA claims a combined fuel consumption of just 4.9 L/100 km for the manual.
