Toyota will expand its Land Cruiser 76 lineup, previously only available with a V8 engine, with new four-cylinder models. Check out the specs and local pricing.
Last year’s update brought significant enhancements to the 70 Series, including the station wagon variant which now features four different models powered by one of three engine configurations. The lineup retains the 4.5-liter turbodiesel V8 engine and introduces a 92 kW/285 N.m 4.2-liter inline-six diesel engine and the 2.8 GD-6 engine to the mix.
The VX model is expected to stand out with its upscale interior, including premium seating, advanced technology features, and a unique front design distinct from its counterparts.
Historically, the Land Cruiser’s local range was dominated by the exclusive 4.5-liter V8 diesel engine, delivering 151 kW/430 N.m and mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The new entries in the 76 series are equipped with Toyota’s 2.8GD-6 four-cylinder diesel engines, boasting an output of 150 kW/500 N.m. These engines power the four-wheel-drive system and, in the VX version, are paired with Toyota’s advanced “Flex Lockup Super Intelligent” six-speed automatic transmission.
Additionally, the four-cylinder models introduce exclusive cruise control, augmenting the existing suite of driver assistance features like vehicle stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, hill assist, and active traction control.
