Toyota UK has introduced a new 2,8-litre turbocharged diesel for the Land Cruiser Prado.

The engine replaces the old 3,0-litre D-4D and will also be used in the all-new Hilux, once it makes its debut in SA.

The engine develops 130kW and 420Nm of torque when mated to a six-speed manual, while the six-speed automatic has a torque figure of 450Nm.

In the Prado it is claimed to consume only 7,2l/100km on the combined cycle.
