After many months of teasing, Defender OCTA has finally been introduced; an off-road performance vehicle packaged as the most luxurious variant in the Defender lineup.
The Defender OCTA derives its name from the octahedral shape of diamonds, symbolising strength and durability – both of which the OCTA possesses in abundance. Each vehicle features a new encircled diamond graphic, including a gloss black diamond on a titanium disc on the Signature Graphic panel.

Equipped with a 4.4-litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine, the Defender OCTA is the most powerful Defender to date, generating 467 kW and up to 750 N.m of torque (and up to 800 N.m with Dyanim Launch mode set). The OCTA can reach speeds of up to 250km/h with 22-inch lightweight alloy wheels and all-season tyres and it is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, with peak torque available from 1,800rpm to nearly 6,000rpm.
Along with revived chassis components, the model introduces the 6D Dynamics suspension technology which works to eliminate pitch and body roll while providing greater wheel articulation for tackling extreme obstacles. The hydraulic suspension system is said to enhance comfort and performance both on and off-road.

The OCTA sits 28mm higher and is 68mm wider for improved ground clearance and stability. It features longer wishbones, unique active dampers, 400mm front brake discs with Brembo callipers, and the fastest steering ratio of any Defender.
The more robust exterior design of the Defender OCTA also adds to its off-road capabilities, with a raised ride height, wider stance, and extended wheel arches. The redesigned bumpers improve approach and departure angles, while tough underbody protection allows for confident exploration over rough terrain. The model also boasts a wading depth of one meter.
A bespoke testing and development program was implemented for the Defender OCTA, involving over 13,960 additional tests to ensure its durability and performance. Jamal Hameedi, Director of SVO at JLR believes their High-Performance experts “achieved the impossible with Defender OCTA,” in their reengineering of the vehicle.

Enhanced drive modes for the OCTA include Comfort Mode, Dynamic Mode, and OCTA Mode, the latter being the first dedicated off-road performance mode for a Defender. The exterior of the Defender OCTA is designed for all-terrain use, with 33-inch diameter tyres, extended wheel arches, a unique grille, and a rear bumper with a four-exit active exhaust system. The model is available in exclusive colors such as Petra Copper and Faroe Green, with a contrast roof and tailgate in gloss Narvik Black. Optional Matte Protective Film is available for added body protection.
Inside, the Defender OCTA offers curated selections with durable UltrafabricsTM PU options. The OCTA Edition One features duo-tone Khaki and Ebony upholstery with a 3D-knit textile finish. Standard interiors include Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather with KvadratTM textile trim, or UltrafabricsTM PU in Light Cloud and Lunar.
The front row features new Performance Seats with supportive bolsters and integrated headrests. The Body and Soul Seat audio technology, developed with SUBPAC and Coventry University, allows occupants to feel the music, with six wellness programs available for relaxation or cognitive enhancement.
