“More for Less” is Suzuki’s mantra as the Ertiga gets a more basic, but better-specified, line-up of safety features.
Suzuki families and fleet clients alike have shown an interest in the Ertiga’s safety, comfort, and entertainment capabilities since its introduction in 2019.
What’s New
Suzuki’s entry-level seven-seater, the Ertiga GA, now comes standard with electronic stability control (ESP) and rear parking sensors. All Ertiga models come standard with dual front airbags, ABS brakes with Emergency Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assistance (BAS), and ISOFIX approved child seat anchor points.
Standard Suzuki Ertiga Specs across the range:
- Electric windows
- Power steering
- Air conditioning with front ventilated cupholders
- Central locking
- Halogen projector headlamps with LED combination taillamps
- 12V charging socket in the front center
Upgraded Suzuki Ertiga Specs:
- Steering mounted audio controls
- Security alarm
- Remote central locking
- 50:50 split luggage board
- Second row centre armrest
- Rear window demister
- Blacked-out B Pillars
- Electronically adjustable & fold-in mirrors
- Rear airconditioning
- 4 x speakers
- Additional 12v socket in 2nd-row seats
- And many more features
“We have also realised that the current economic climate places a lot of pressure on the types of families and businesses that would buy an Ertiga. And so, we decided to simplify the range and upgrade the specifications of the remaining models,” Brendon Carpenter, Suzuki Auto South Africa’s Brand Marketing Manager, explains the rationale for the decision to streamline the lineup and improve the features of the Ertiga.
The decision to abandon the Ertiga GLX-series is at the heart of the model changes. Only the Ertiga GL and Ertiga GA versions are available with a five-speed manual or automatic gearboxes.
All Ertiga versions, as previously stated, are powered by Suzuki’s 1.5 liter petrol engine, which generates 77 horsepower and 138 nm of torque.
The long wheelbase of 2 740 mm and the seven-seat configuration, as well as Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) underpinnings, are also present.
Upgraded Luxury Offering
The GL version of the Ertiga is far more luxurious than the GA variant. An armrest and storage box between the front seats gives extra air conditioning vents for the back seats. An Auto feature for the driver’s electric window controls, a 50/50 split rear seat, and an extra 12V charging connection for the back passengers are all included in this version of the X5.
It’s finally been introduced to the four-speed automatic Suzuki Ertiga GL model. After this one, there will only be three models available, with this one being the most prominent. In the past, Suzuki offered a four-year/60,000-mile service plan with all three Ertiga models, and that is still the case with the current Ertiga models.
