Volkswagen California XXL Concept

By: CAR magazine

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will take a conceptual version of the new Crafter (inspired by the T6 California) when it attends the world’s largest trade fair for motorhomes and caravans, Caravan Salon Düsseldorf,  at the end of this month in Germany.

The California XXL concept is being aimed at those looking for a motorhome and even has a wet room with shower.

Based on regular Crafter panel van with a medium-size wheelbase, the California XXL then received a redesigned tall roof with special indentations to help with aerodynamic efficiency.

Most of the changes have been made to the interior cabin however, which includes a screened-off, spacious living area. There is a fully equipped kitchen installed by VW that comes with a twin-hob stovetop, a fridge, an extendable work surface and a sink.

The California XXL concept  is spacious enough for a two-meter-long bed and ambient lighting provides a cozy atmosphere while the window blinds create privacy.

The front seats can be rotated 180 degrees and there’s also a bench seat for those not sitting at the fore-end.

VW mentions that it will provide more details after the concept’s public debut at Caravan Salon Düsseldorf and at this point there is no indication of whether the California XXL concept will go into production.
