Few companies make good special edition vehicles, but Jeep’s been pretty on the money with their Wranglers.
This Anniversary Edition still haunts me. And then there’s the Moab.
Chrysler has now announced that the Polar Edition Wrangler will be sold in the US. It’s got 18-inch glossy black wheels, a “Powerdome” – the hood bulge – a polar blue hardtop, and comes in both Limited and Unlimited guise. It’s also got different suspension setups – Dana 30 on the front, Dana 44 on the rear axle – and an “anti-spin electronic” rear differential. Under the hood is the new 3.6 litre Pentastar that we love, and you can have a six-speed manual or five-speed (really?) automatic gearbox.
Still, special edition Wranglers are not about what they can do – buyers are bound to modify it to suit their taste in trails, anyway – it’s about what they look like. The Anniversary Edition is still the best in my opinion – but this doesn’t look to bad either.
