Volkswagen’s Concept C features a folding metal roof and reveals several clues about the marqué’s future design plans.
The vehicle features a new five-stage, fold-away steel roof. With its five-stage system, this four-seater can be transformed from a coupé to a cabriolet and back again in a couple of seconds. The roof also features an integrated glass sunroof.
It is said to provide cues of how the cabriolet on the next rung after the Beetle Cabriolet could ultimately look.
Positioned in the lower mid-class segment, the Concept C features an array of newly developed components. Being wider than any other cabriolet (1,81metres) in the A or B segment, and 1,43m high and 4,41m long, its dimensions ensure a spacious interior. Ample space is provided for both front and rear passengers in the leather- and wood-trimmed interior.
Complete with aluminium grille and round headlights, the concept C’s design hints at the look of future Volkswagens. On this car, headlight and grille positions have also influenced the styling of the bonnet with the grille’s V-contour being extended onto it and across the muscular shoulder section.
The rear section of this vehicle is similarly athletic while concealing 400 litres of stowage space.
The concept C is powered by a 110kW FSI engine.
