Images of the upcoming Countryman-based Mini Paceman have leaked onto the ‘net as the result of a clumsy online publishing exercise.
The production Paceman, based on the Detroit Motor Show concept of the same name, was the star of an article outlining East-end London’s cuisine scene in the firm’s online version of its print magazine.
Before publishers palms could grace foreheads, British Mini-devotee website MotoringFile.com managed to leak the images.
The Paceman, which is due to make its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show, will be underpinned by the Countryman’s platform. It will differentiate itself from its (relatively) high-riding sibling by sitting 10 mm lower in its springs, weighing around 20 kg less and featuring a coupe body style that incorporates a lowered roofline.
Mini’s ALL4 torque-apportioning all-wheel drive system is expected to be a standard feature across the Paceman range and, given this model’s underpinnings, it’s fair to expect an expect an engine lineup mirroring that of the Countryman (1,6-litre petrol engines in naturally aspirated and turbocharged states).
