Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has released pricing and model line-up details for the new RAV4.
The powerplant in the entry-level 2,0-litre petrol GX develops 107 kW and 187 N.m of torque and channels drive to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. This unit propels the 2,0 GX from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 10,2 seconds on the way to a 180 km/h top speed. The average fuel consumption for this model is 7,7 litres/100 km.
GX specification encompasses such standard features as 17-inch alloy wheels, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, CD/MP3/USB/Bluetooth audio system, multifunction steering wheel, air-conditioning, electric windows, stability control and park distance sensors. The CVT-equipped version cracks the 0-100 km/h run in 11 seconds and returns an average fuel consumption figure of 7,4 litres/100 km.
Next up is the 2,2-litre turbodiesel GX. This model’s powerplant develops 110 kW and 340 N.m and is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. Toyota claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 9,6 seconds and a 180 km/h top speed. Fuel consumption is a claimed 5,6 litres/100 km.
The range-topping 2,5-litre petrol VX develops 132 kW and 233 N.m and is mated with an automatic transmission sending drive to all four corners. Toyota claims a 0-100 km/h time of 9,4 seconds and an average fuel consumption of 11,4 litres/100 km.
VX specification builds upon GX with the addition of such features as cruise control, leather-bound steering wheel and gearknob cover, sunroof, heated front seats and dual-zone air-conditioner with pollen filter.
Roof rails and a rear spoiler are standard across the RAV4 range.
