An-all new Nissan saloon has been spotted in Cape Town.
According to Nissan, the car in question, which was snapped by former CAR editor Hannes Oosthuizen, is an Almera that is currently being used for technical training.
In a number of Middle East and Asian markets, the Almera is essentially a booted version of the Micra that, while sharing much of the hatchback’s mechanical underpinnings, serves up additional luggage space and rear passenger legroom. It wears the Sunny, Almera, Versa and Latio badges, depending on the market.
The engine line-up will probably mirror that of the Micra, so it’s fair to expect a 1,5-litre petrol powerplant developing 73 kW and 134 N.m mated with a five-speed manual gearbox.
This model will be launched on our market by the end of August.
