Mercedes-Benz has unveiled details of the flagship of the widely lauded S-Class range ahead of its reveal at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The S65 AMG sports a twin-turbo 6,0-litre V12 that develops 463 kW and 1 000 N.m that are relayed to the road through a seven-speed automatic transmission (a five-speeder was used previously). Benz claims this two-tonne-plus behemoth cracks 100 km/h in a scant 4,3 seconds before topping out at 250 km/h.
The S65 AMG rolls on 20-inch wheels in a multi-spoke design that are wrapped by 285/35 rubber at the rear. As standard, the vehicle also comes with Magic Body Control which scans the road surface ahead and primes the air suspension accordingly.
The S65 wil be available solely in a LWB variant and is expected to launch locally before the end of 2014.
