Following the release of the concept at Pebble Beach in August (as well as spy videos and pictures), BMW has revealed its most powerful M3/M4 product to date, the M4 GTS.
As the pictures illustrate, the GTS features several aerodynamic updates compared to the standard car. The most significant (visual) change, is surely the rear wing. The rear of the car also features a carbon-fibre diffuser and a titanium exhaust. The specially designed, light-weight M alloy wheels are shod with sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Move to the inside, and the cabin features an abundance of carbon-fibre and Alcantara parts. The standard seats have also been replaced with carbon-fibre bucket seats.
Forget about taking your kids to the shop with you, as the rear seats will be removed if you pick the Clubsport package. In their place you will get a half-cage adding to the car’s overall rigidity. This package will also add six-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher.
Under the bonnet is the well-known 3,0-litre, twin-turbo, six-cylinder engine. However, several improvements, including the addition of BMW’s water injection technology (as tested on the M4 safety car), have resulted in a healthy increase of power and torque, now up to 368 kW and 600 N.m!
Using BMW’s M DCT transmission, the run to 100 km/h takes a claimed 3,8 seconds, before the car hits a top speed of 305 km/h. Furthermore, for those interested in lap times, BMW confirmed that the GTS has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes 28 seconds.
As with the previous M3 GTS, the car will be manufactured in limited numbers – only 700 M4 GTS models will roll off the production line.
