Hyundai Automotive South Africa says local assembly and in-house conversion means that it can now produce the H-100 Tipper on order.
The automaker claims its H-100 Bakkie is one of the most popular vehicles in its local range. But, before now, the converted Hyundai H-100 Tipper was available in restricted numbers, due to the outsourcing of its conversion.
Now, however, the Commercial Vehicles Division of Hyundai Automotive SA is able to assemble and convert the Tipper at its plant in Apex, Benoni.
The H-100 Tipper’s electro-hydraulic lift system is controlled via a switch unit fitted in the cabin of the bakkie.
Like the standard bakkie, the H-100 Tipper employs a 2,6-litre diesel engine providing the rear wheels with 58 kW at 3 800 r/min and 167 N.m at 2 200 r/min.
“We recognised the demand for this versatile H-100 derivative, and realised that we could create a tipper conversion from the standard drop-side deck in the advanced workshop at our SKD [semi-knocked-down] assembly plant in Benoni,” said Stanley Anderson, marketing director of Hyundai Automotive SA.
“The added convenience of the tipper deck makes it a winner, and due to the local assembly and in-house conversion, it is possible to meet the demand better than before,” added Anderson.
So, how much? Well, the Hyundai H-100 Tipper will set you back R282 900, or R297 900 if you require air-conditioning.
