Euro NCAP has released the results of its latest batch of crash-tests, with the three vehicles evaluated each scoring a full five stars.
The Volkswagen Tiguan, Alfa Romeo Giulia and Seat Ateca all scored five stars thanks to the safety equipment fitted as standard throughout the European Union.
In EU markets, all three vehicles offer autonomous emergency braking systems that help to avoid or mitigate collisions.
Of course, the Tiguan is perhaps of the most immediate interest to South Africans, seeing as the second generation of this crossover is scheduled to arrive on local dealer floors in the final quarter of 2016.
The latest VW Tiguan scored 96% for adult occupancy, 84% for child occupancy, 72% for pedestrian protection, and 68% for its standard safety assistance features.
