Although it is by no means tardy, there’s no getting away from the fact that the 570S is one of McLaren’s slowest performance cars. But this is perhaps what prompted Italian tuner Novitec to go to work on the British supercar, giving it a handy bump in power as well as improving its handling.
Novitec has kept the twin-turbo 3,8-litre V8, but tuned it to deliver 475 kW and 692 N.m (up 56 kW and 92 N.m), which sees the 0-100 km/h time fall to 3,0 seconds and the top speed rise to 335 km/h. An enhanced exhaust system has also been added.
Along with a 30 mm drop in suspension, the Novitec front lip apparently helps to reduce the lift on the front axle to improve stability at high speeds. The rear airfoil, meanwhile, ostensibly improves cornering ability. Whether these updates will be as effective as the massive rear wing found on the soon-to-arrive 570S Sprint remains to be seen.
Other upgrades include a modest, wind-tunnel-developed aero kit and a set of high-performance forged alloy wheels. That sportier suspension setup and minor interior enhancements complete the package.
Novitec says these modifications can be purchased as a package or individually, although it has yet to reveal pricing. Don’t expect it to be any cheaper than McLaren’s in-house track pack, though…
