A fresh report out of the United Kingdom suggests that Jaguar Land Rover is set to both renew and expand its current line-up, although the company looks poised to ditch its 5,0-litre V8 petrol engine.
According to Autocar, the British automotive firm will expand its range with four new or returning monikers, eventually replacing every single current model by the year 2024.
The British publication says the electric Jaguar I-Pace will be the first of these new nameplates, with a flagship J-Pace SUV expected to follow. Of course, a new-generation Land Rover Defender is also on the cards, along with a rumoured “Road Rover”. The second-generation Range Rover Evoque, meanwhile, is also coming soon.
Autocar furthermore reports that the two brands will roll out a new generation of cleaner Ingenium diesel mills to complement its growing range of mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrains.
In addition, the refreshed engine range will apparently include a new three-cylinder unit (likely boasting an electrically powered turbocharged) as well as a fresh straight-six engine that will serve to replace the current supercharged 5,0-litre V8.
