A high-ranking executive at Hyundai in Australia has hinted that the Korean automaker has plans to offer an even hotter version of its i30 N hatchback, stating that “everything you can imagine is on the cards”.
Speaking to drive.com.au, Andrew Tuitahi, who holds the role of senior manager for product planning at Hyundai Motor Company Australia, said that “some pretty cool things” were being considered.
“There are some groups experimenting with that kind of stuff. And there’s some pretty cool things being considered. Everything you can imagine is on the cards,” Tuitahi told the Australian publication.
“There’s lots of potential. There’s lots of discussions within various groups at Hyundai Motor Group, from high-performance teams to things we’ve been looking at locally.
“Guys at head office and everyone is debating what we can do in terms of a special edition or a few special editions throughout the model’s life-cycle and we’re still tossing around those ideas,” he added.
Revealed in July 2017, the Hyundai i30 N employs a 2,0-litre turbocharged engine worth up to 202 kW (with the Performance Package specified) and 353 N.m, with drive sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. A dual-clutch transmission is reportedly in development.
