German tuner Brabus has lifted the wraps off its latest Mercedes-AMG G 63-based “exclusive high-performance off-roader”, the 700 Widestar.
Recently unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018, the new G 63’s 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 has recieved Brabus’ B40-700 performance upgrade, giving this engine an injection of 85 kW and 100 N.m of torque. This powerplant now delivers 515 kW and 950 N.m to all fours via a nine-speed speedshift TCT transmission.
According to the Bottrop-based tuner, this transmission, coupled with permanent all-wheel drive, gives the 700 Widestar sportscar-like performance. Brabus claims that this model will shoot to three figures in a matter of 4,3 seconds, before topping out at an electronically limited top-speed of 240 km/h to “protect the tyres”.
To add to its sporty persona, this model is fitted with air outlets and a sports exhaust system with actively controlled flaps that produce a variable exhaust note ranging from a discreet, to a bartitone V8 burble. In true Brabus fashion, the tailpipes, which can be specified in either silver or black chrome guise, run along the side sills and exit in front of the rear wheels.
To create space for its 23-inch “Premium Edition” Monoblock wheels, the wheel arches are extended by 10 centimetres. Up-high, a LED light bar is fitted for improved visibility and at the rear, a roof-mounted aerofoil can be seen.
The model seen here features an all-leather interior in two-tone vanilla and black, highlighted by orange piping and vanilla-coloured stitching. Brabus can, however, tailor this interior to customers’ own individual tastes.
