The off-road motorcycle and quad racer fraternities will be part of the action at the Carnival City Casino 400 on November 14 and 15.
The East Rand event is the final round of the SA Off Road Car Racing Championship…presented by Absa but the organisers, the Koepel Club, have a strong band of motorcycle and quad members. To cater for this membership a club event, which will run in conjunction with the national outing, is expected to draw a combined entry of 100 motorcycles and quads.
“The final round of the SA Off-Road Motorcycle and Quad Championship, the Roof of Africa, will be run a two weeks after our event but members have been clamouring to compete,” said Koepel Club chairman Willie Prinsloo. “The bike and quad members are an integral part of our club, and we will run an event within an event for them.”
Prinsloo is also hoping the bike and quad outing will have a spin-off and attract some established stars. “The bikers and the quad guys are crazy,” he said, “and there is a strong possibility that some of the better known riders will want to use the Carnival City Casino 400 as a warm-up for the Roof.”
