Chery’s middle child, the Tiggo 7 Pro, has finally arrived and comfortably slots between its siblings, the Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 8. The Tiggo 7 Pro not only sets itself up as a middle ground offering because of its size, but also because of its price and styling.

The Tiggo 7 Pro range will feature “Distinctive” and “Executive” models with the “Executive” being the halo trim. The “Disitnctive” is priced at R409 000 while the “Executive” will cost R444 900. The Tiggo 4 Pro is the entry level offering in the Chery stable and the Tiggo 8 Pro is seen as the range-topper while also being the most expensive and largest model.
The Tiggo 7 Pro is marketed as a middle-tier offering within Chery’s Tiggo SUV fleet. The Tiggo 7 Pro is 5-seater mid-size SUV outfitted with a 1,5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 108 kW and 210 N.m of torque meaning that it produces less power than the range-topper, the Tiggo 8 Pro. The engine is mated to the firm’s model 25 CVT transmission, which adds features such as stop/start systems as well as improved efficacy when driving. The Tiggo 7 Pro is a front-wheel-drive car that will feature the now ubiquitous driving modes such as “Eco” and “Sport” that were present in the Tiggo 8 Pro. The tare weight of the car is 1 421 kg which would make it a little lighter than the Tiggo 8.
While it doesn’t receive any performance enhancements, the Executive trim will receive red brake calipers and adaptive cruise control. Both trims come standard with a slew of safety features such as Hill Hold, Hill-start, blind spot detection, an electronic stability program amongst others. Chery’s latest addition to the family will have a claimed luggage space of 475-litres, and with the second row of seats set face down, it offers a utility space figure of 1 500-litres.
The Tiggo 7 Pro comes as standard with both a service plan and warranty. The Tiggo 7 has a five-year/60 00okm service plan and a five-year/150 000km warranty. Chery also offers a five-year/ unlimited km roadside assistance plan and a remarkable ten-year/ 1 million km engine warranty, albeit with a few terms and conditions attached. Much like many Asian automakers, Chery’s range offers a variety of well-built, capable and reliable cars that have been sweetened by generous service plans, warranties and competitive pricing.
