The Hyundai 2023 Ioniq 6 was mentioned back in 2021 and was said to be heavily rooted in the firm’s Prophecy Concept. Essentially, the Prophecy Concept is Hyundai’s design language for their electric vehicle platforms. In the case of the Ioniq 6, it is the basis of the car’s design.
Since the sedan is based on the concept, it may feature an extended wheelbase and shorter overhangs. In an interview with AutoCar, the VP said that the car had received a few changes that slightly deviated from the concept’s designin order to introduce more aerodynamic-focused proportions. Frankly, the Prophecy Concept looks like a bloated Porsche Taycan Turbo S if you squint a little – that’s no bad thing…

The Ioniq 6 will adopt the firm’s E-GMP platform present in the Ioniq 5. It is plausible that the electric sedan will share the same powertrain architecture as the previous Ioniq 5. Unlike the Ioniq 5, however, the upcoming sedan will likely have a 77 kWh battery compared to the 73 kWh battery in the ‘5. As a result of the increased capacity, the 6’s range could be well over 450 km. Sources suggest that the rear-wheel-drive variant will utilise a 198 kW motor while its all-wheel-drive counterpart could produce 239 kW.
There are rumours that an N performance version could be available down the line for the anticipated saloon, too. If the performance subdivision decides to bestow the Ioniq 6 with a little more juice, it could have a power output of 430 kW to compete with the Kia EV6. No concrete dates have been given, but trust that we’ll see it unveiled in the coming months.
