The Blue Oval debuted their next generation Ranger bakkie in November last year but the exciting new Ford Ranger Raptor has been imagined ahead of its world premiere in a few weeks time.
Unofficial renders presented on Russian automotive platform Kolesa.ru have demonstrated what the new generation Ford Ranger Raptor may look like based on the hardcore treatement that it has been given in the past with some help from recent spy shots.
As expected, the renderings follow the same design aesthetic of the standard Ford Ranger with C-shaped DRLs flanked on each side of the grille which seem to be borrowed off of the F-150. As with the model before, this rendering incorporates a redesigned and raised front bumper which integrates into widened wheel arches. The rear incorporates the same bold FORD lettering flanked by intricate taillight graphics while a revised bumper has twin exhaust outlets concealed beneath.
The previous generation Ranger Raptor had diesel fumes discharged from the exhaust as it employed a 2.0-litre biturbo motor but the new Ford Ranger Raptor hasn’t exactly said no to a larger powertrain for this updated model. Realistically to a 5.0-litre Coyote V8 is a twin-turbocharged V6 petrol or potentially even a turbodiesel V6. If this isn’t good enough for you, rumours state that Ford is working on a hotter Ranger Raptor R which should be V8 powered – but don’t bank on it.
The rendering also shows knobbly tyres wrapping around aggressive looking all terrain rims with a slightly lower stance than we are accustomed to but the artist’s impressions probably won’t change the fact that the new model will come standard with uprated Fox suspension as well.
With its predecessors local sales success and appeal we can expect the new Ford Ranger Raptor to hit our shores once it goes into production.
