BMW’s Individual package has been overhauled, complete with a tweaked sports package, to make its compact 3 Series arguably the most customisable saloon in its segment.

There are now a total of nine exterior colours to choose from, of which three are brand new. These colours – Diamond, Malachite Green and Imola Red – join Estoril Blue, Midnight Blue, Brass, Orinoco, Scarab Green and Sepia on the 3 Series’ Individual’s existing palette.

The interiors have been enhanced with the addition of Imola Red to the range of soft Nappa leather trim colours available. Suede Alcantara finishes in various shades are available too for added variety.

The M Sport package has been revised too. Already comprising sport suspension settings lowered by 15 mm, driver and front passenger sport seats, a multifunction leather steering wheel, M bumpers with front and rear spoilers and side sills, Individual high-gloss satin window trim; Alu-Cube black door sills with M Badge, an Anthracite roof lining and clear indicator lenses, the package has been improved the addition of 18-inch wheels over the old 17-inchers.

With the release of the Special Edition 318i and 320d, these four-cylinder models can now also boast the Individual packages previously reserved for six-cylinder models.

These two models have a choice of four exterior colours (Diamond, Estoril Blue, Opal Black and Scarab) and a cloth and leather combination for the interior. The M Sports package – excluding the sports seats, but with 17-inch alloy wheels – and door sills inscribed with “Special Edition” are offered as well.

The Individual package prices have not increased since May 2002 and with the revised M Sports package and larger wheels, the price premium is R 1 000. With the different Individual options, prices vary per model, costing up to an extra R 32 500. The Special Ediiton 318i and 320d are offered at R14 000 over the regular price.
