DRIVEN: A car filled with ‘swag’ – Volkswagen Polo Vivo Mswenko

By: CAR magazine

It’s bold in style with a unique attitude to make any young woman feel ready to go anywhere with -˜effortless swag’.

Mswenko is a South African slang word in isiZulu which means -˜swag’, which refers to someone fashionable or stylish.

Here are my thoughts on the model that attracts the youth.

The Polo Vivo shape remains the same, but the attention to detail that Volkswagen has given this limited edition model really shows. When I first saw this car, I thought to myself, this is definitely something I would buy and that it would definitely add a new look driving in the streets.

The Mswenko comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels painted in anthracite, a black painted roof and a chrome tip exhaust, ‘Mswenko’ decals on the side and comes in four colour options including, Reef Blue Metallic, Pure White, Reflex Silver and Limestone Grey Metallic.

How does the interior look

The Reef Blue Metallic exterior definitely was not all! The Mswenko has ocean blue, black and cream seat colours. The infotainment system has App-Connect functionality, six speakers and a multifunctional steering wheel.

How does it feel on the road

The drive is smooth like no other! As a driver, you do not feel the bumpy Cape Town roads and pure driver confidence features. The 1.4-litre delivers a total of 63 kW and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

Here are the specifications

Model tested: 1.4 Comfortline Mswenko

Price: R246 900

Warranty/Service Plan: 3-year/120 km warranty and 6-year anti-corrosion warranty are included in the price. Volkswagen’s service and maintenance plans are optional.
