This is the Jannarelly Design-1 Concept, which has been revealed at Tomni Classics in Dubai after renders of the model were released last December. The modern roadster was conceived to captivate the spirit of iconic cars released in the ’60s.
Jannarelly says the concept has received plenty of positive feedback as it has already earned some 20 orders.
The Design-1 is labelled as a ’60s throwback as it draws inspiration from models such as the Shelby Cobra and Ferrari 250 TR. The body is made from a mixture of fibreglass and carbon-fibre, giving it an astonishingly low dry weight of 710 kg.
Dimensions of the car, however, show that it doesn’t take up a lot of space, seeing that it’s 1 080 mm tall and 3 680 mm long.
The interior, as to be expected, is minimalistic. Drivers and passengers are greeted by two adjustable leather and carbon-fibre seats, each equipped with a four-point harness. Those who purchase the vehicle at launch will receive it with a carbon-fibre aerokit, including a rear polycarbonate spoiler. There’s also a plumbed automatic extinguisher, Toyo Tires R888 Proxes, an aeroscreen and a chrome and leather accessories package.
Driving the Design-1 will be a naturally aspirated 3,5-litre V6 delivering 227 kW and 371 N.m to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. To manage this, it makes use of an alloy double wishbone suspension with adjustable coilover dampers on both the front and rear. Stopping power is provided by four-piston ventilated front discs with radial alloy calipers (and two-piston versions at the rear).
The roadster is able to achieve a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4,0 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h.
Customers will be able to take control of their Design-1 models within the next quarter, at $55 000 (R817 000) a pop.
