
With the Knysna Speed Festival under full swing, the festival comes to a head with the Renault Simola Hillclimb, which comprises of Classic Car Friday, currently underway, and the actual hillclimb challenge all the way up the Simola Golf Estate – to which two full days of the weekend are dedicated.
On display in the centre of town all of Friday, 18 May, are pre-1974 classics, for which competitors and spectators are encouraged to wear period dress. Also planned for the day is a town parade for the racecars that will happen near the Knysna Waterfront, specifically down Waterfront Drive and Main Road, as well as scrutineering/public viewing of the racecars at the Waterfront.
Undoubtedly the highlight of the weeklong festival, the Renault Simola Hillclimb has attracted the South Africa’s most powerful cars that will vie the title of “King of the Hill“, namely Mclaren’s MP4-12C, a Porsche 917 Le Mans Replica, Porsche 993 GT2R, Nissan GT-Rs, Ferrari F360 Challenge, Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Bentley 4,25 Blower Special, 1933 Alfa Romeo Monza and 1927 Bugatti T37.
