If you ask us, local television adverts aren’t quite what they used to be. Indeed, think back to your younger days and there will no doubt be a handful of TV commercials you fondly remember.
With this in mind, we decided to dig up six classic automotive-themed TV ads from long ago, and have embedded the resulting (grainy) YouTube videos below.
Of course, there are many more spots that could quite easily have made this list. In fact, if there’s sufficient interest in this feature, we’ll put together another one – and we certainly welcome your suggestions.

Filmed on Chapman’s Peak in Cape Town, this BMW advert was in response to a Mercedes-Benz commercial filmed on the same road. The latter featured a Mercedes crashing off the cliff, with the driver surviving, supposedly promoting the vehicle’s safety features. But BMW’s reply was utterly masterful…
