When Ruslan Mukanov from Kazakhstan first saw a Rolls-Royce Phantom in a magazine he knew he had to have one. But with an asking price of around R6 million, he had no chance of making that dream come true. Instead of giving up, he decided to create his own and the result is this.
What you see here is in fact a Mercedes-Benz W124 from the ’80s. Ruslan used photographs and drawings of the Phantom to create a near spitting image of the Roller in his own garage. The shape was created with plasticine, then the body was covered with glass fibre, plastered and painted. The car even features suicide doors! And the overall cost? A mere $3000 (R15 000), of which the large wheels and tyres proved the most costly.
Borat would’ve been proud.
