Peugeot South Africa has once again helped the Beeld Children’s Fund raise more than R1 million rand this year.

Thousands of children are left abandoned and homeless each year and with Christmas around the corner Peugeot has assisted in making their lives easier by donating a brand new 208 vehicle to the value of R224 900 as the key prize for the child welfare’s annual fundraising competition.

Helmine Strydom,  all the way from Cape Town walked away the ecstatic winner of the brand new a Peugeot 208 1.2 Active.

Strydom collected her "massive surprise" today at an event hosted by the Fund and sponsored by the beautiful Leaves Guest house in Rivonia.

Peugeot has been a proud supporter of the fund, donating a new car as the prize for the past eight years.

The fund was established on 1 August 1977 and has consecutively taken an active role in improving the lives of children in need for the past 40 years.

"We are delighted to once again be part of such an important initiative. We feel honoured to give back to our community with the Beeld Children’s Fund that is focused on supporting a number of children’s charities in the country.

"Our children are our future and we intend continuing with our modest efforts to assist where we can so that the children of South Africa can reach their true potential" said Francisco Gaie, Managing Director of Peugeot South Africa.

The giveaway prize, the Peugeot 208 1.2 Active is bursting with tasteful touches throughout from its leather wrapped "racing" steering wheel to its beautifully appointed i-cockpit it’s not only fun to drive but is economical to own too.

This year, the fundraiser saw 51 668 entries, over 37 000 coming from the R30 SMS donations and 11 428 tickets sold – therefore raising more than R1 million.

"We thank Peugeot South Africa, Radio Sonder Grense (RSG) and Beeld for their wonderful support and cooperation to make this possible. We are overjoyed at the amount raised again this year" said Adrie van Staden, PR officer for the Beeld Childrens Fund.

"This enables us to fund 7 skills development programs for children in need" she added.

"The fundraiser would not be possible without Peugeot’s ongoing support.  To have a vehicle of this quality and value as the main prize played a big role in the success of the competition.  It is an absolute pleasure to have Peugeot as a sponsor and we hope and believe that the partnership will continue in future".
