Concours South Africa, the country’s only National multi-marque Concours competition for classic cars, this week met with Ari Seirlis, CEO of the QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) to formally nominate the charitable organisation as a beneficiary for the 2017 event.
Based in Pinetown, Mr Seirlis travelled to Johannesburg this week to formalise his organisation’s relationship with what is destined to become South Africa’s premier classic car event.
Concours South Africa 2017 will be held at Sun City on 3-6 August 2017 and is expected to draw up to 150 of the finest classic cars in the country.

After the inaugural event was held last year, in which over 50 cars took part, this year the organisers are have invited two world-renowned figures in the classic car world to be part of the judging panel. These include Chris Routledge, the CEO of internationally acclaimed auction house Coys of Kensington, and Robert Coucher, Editor of the world’s top classic car magazine, Octane.
" The Concours South Africa competition is a natural fit for our organisation," said Mr Seirlis.
"And this came about through our association with another motoring event where we have enjoyed a lengthy and very rewarding association with some of the key Concours South Africa people. We have had a 14-year relationship with Ross Crichton of Round Table Sandown 150, as a beneficiary of the Cannonball Run for Supercars. The Cannonball Run started off by funding our investment in vehicles with hand controls to teach our paraplegics and quadriplegics to drive.

"We deploy the funds from the Cannonball Run into our road safety campaign. Ross and I decided that we want to use any funds raised by Concours South Africa into road safety. An event like Concours South Africa can create huge awareness of road safety.
"One key point of our campaign is to encourage people to use their seat belts, and the second key point is to encourage people not to use their mobile telephones while driving.
"Our campaign is called: Buckle Up, We Don’t Want new Members.”
Mr Paul Kennard, Concours South Africa’s chief organiser, said that the QuadPara Association of South Africa was a natural choice as the preferred beneficiary of the classic car event, due to take place in Sun City from 3-6 August 2017.
