Haval states that customer safety is paramount to the continued development of Haval as a global brand and this is recognised by ANCAP (Australian New Car Assessment Program) which rewarded Haval with a 5 Star for the Haval H2 with Dual Frontal, Side and Curtain airbags.
This 5 Star rating, announced on 30th OCT, with an overall score: 34.88 (out of 37) made up of the Frontal Offset Test 13.88(out of 16)/Side Impact Test 16.00(out of 16)/ Pole Test 2.00(out of 2)/Whiplash Protection Good/Pedestrian Protection Acceptable/ ESC Standard/Seat Belt Reminders 3.00(out of 3);
SAFETY FIRST!
“Haval Motors South Africa just launched the Haval H2 to the South African market only a few months ago and already this compact SUV is making quite a name for itself,” says the automaker. Cars.co.za announced the Haval H2 as a semi-finalist in this year’s Consumer Awards and it has now been awarded the maximum 5 Star safety grade by Australia’s leading independent vehicle safety advocate, ANCAP.
This announcement came in the same month that China’s Automobile Technology & Research centre conducted its most rigorous open rollover test, carried out in the Real Car collision laboratory, in Tianjin for the first time.
“We applied the most meticulous and uncompromising technological standards. This safety collision evaluation system met all the global market requirements,” said vice-president, Samuel Chen.
That safety test meets the requirements in both China and the EU, and even parts of the laws and regulations of the US and NCAP.
“HAVAL is driven on to present its customer with safer SUVs. The addition of the five-star ANCAP rating is the latest in a remarkable run of success for China’s number one SUV manufacturer.”

Haval Motors South Africa launched the Haval H2 in our market a few months ago and we were suitablyy impressed with the Chinese SUV.
When we tested it on a road trip we found the build quality to be good and inside even the small things, like the sunglasses holder and the buttons for the electric windows, have a satisfying solidity to them.
More importantly though are the safety features and the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has awarded the Haval H2 with a five-star safety rating for derivatives with dual frontal, side and curtain airbags.
Of the six variants available in South Africa, the two entry-level City derivatives (manual and automatic) are excluded, as they come without side or curtain airbags, but do get front dual SRS airbags and ABS.
The Luxury and Premium trim models are all fitted with multiple airbags and all besides the Premium manual version come with an electronic stability program (ESP).
