Sun City will host South Africa’s first ever Concours and exhibit a collection of the finest classic, luxury and sports vehicles from around the country, in September this year.
What is a concours?
A Concours (which refers to Concoursd’Elegance) dates back to the 17th century when aristocracy would parade their horse-drawn carriages through parks in Paris.
When the automobile was introduced these events evolved into contests and competitions where vehicles were judged on beauty and design.
In this case, the stage will be set in South Africa for one of the most prestigious and competitive events in the automotive world.
What to expect?
The event will include 150 of the most prized collector cars which will roll out onto the lawns of Sun City.
Car owners and their partners are encouraged to dress in “chic attire” according to the nature of their vehicle as organisers anticipate this to be a horseless carriage version of the J&B Met.
“We see this as an opportunity for owners of these special cars, their pride and joy, to express themselves to the fullest extent” said Ross Crichton, organiser or Concours South Africa and a veteran supercar aficionado.
“The Sun City venue provides the ideal backdrop to showcase South Africa’s finest cars, and the venue enables participants to enjoy the cars and themselves to the fullest over an unforgettable weekend, surrounded by like-minded people.”
The event will take place at Sun City from Friday 9 September to Sunday 11 September 2016.
