The Carnival City 400, the final round of the Absa Off Road Championship, which is scheduled to take place on November 19 and 20, will offer plenty of excitement for competitors and spectators alike.
The Prologue to determine the starting order for the main event will get underway at 12h00 on Friday, November 19 and will consist of three laps of the 6km stadium off road course at Carnival City near Brakpan.
“The stadium off road course has been used for a number of Koepel events this year and has undergone some changes,” said Koepel chairman, Willie Prinsloo. “New sections and spectacular jumps have been added to the testing course and, if last year’s high-flying action is anything to go by, competitors and spectators can expect some action-packed racing.”
The main event starts at Carnival City at 08h00 on Saturday, November 20 with crews expected to complete a lap of the stadium off road course before heading out on the first of three laps of a 135km route laid out between Brakpan and Heidelberg.
“The start, finish and designated service point will be at Carnival City and spectators will have four opportunities to see the cars in action within the complex,” said Prinsloo. The main route is similar to that of last year and offers varied terrain and numerous spectator vantage points.”
“We are faced with a minor problem in that the R23 between Brakpan and Heidelberg is closed for construction, which means spectators will have to make a slight detour to get to the various spectator points,” added Prinsloo.
